Life isn’t a Movie, the Camera Keeps Rolling.

What do you need to ensure the rest of your life is a success? What is going to ensure your happiness, forever? Straight As in high school? A 2400 on your SAT? Entry into a top-tier college? A degree with honors? Entry into Medical school? Law School? A job at an investment bank? Residency at a good hospital? Marring that special someone? Kids? Buying a house? Retirement?

I want you to get this straight: No one ever says “Cut! That’s a wrap!” Your life is not a movie, it doesn’t just fade to black after something really exciting and awesome happens. No, it keeps going. The camera keeps rolling. Newlyweds have to deal with married life. Olympic champions have to deal with aging bodies and new competitors. Medical doctors have to survive residency. Life goes on.

A lot of people have a goal based mindset on life. “If only I can get this” “If only I could do that”. If only what? Have you considered what things will be like once you actually get what you want? Do you know what comes next? Do you want that? If the answer is “No” or “I don’t know” then I suggest you think hard about your current goals.

Life is a process, it is a journey.

  1. Hi Jason,

I’ve just been reading through your blog: you’ve got enthusiasm and passion, and if you can keep them up, then you’ll get the chance to do big things. Don’t ask me exactly what, but hard work, passion and a bit of intelligence all help with success.
