I grew up in (quite excellent) city of Newton which is next-door to Boston, and hope someday to become a
notable resident of the city. I moved out to the Bay Area to attend Stanford and now, I live in the SOMA district of San Francisco - a wholly different but equally awesome city.
While at Stanford I studied
Biology (BS & MS) and
Philosophy (honors thesis). More than anything*, my formal education taught me how gather relevant information on a particular topic, understand & synthesize that knowledge, and communicate persuasively and insightfully about the topic.
While at Stanford, I cofounded
Gumball Capital, a social venture whose mission is to engage students with entrepreneurship in pursuit of ending poverty. I had the great fortune of serving as its executive director for a year and a half, where we grew an small idea into an award-winning nationally active nonprofit. I'm still actively involved as a member of the board of directors.
For over a decade, I competed at the national level in
Men's Gymnastics and was a member of the US Junior National team. I am proud to have been a part of the Stanford Men's Gymnastics team and was captain in 2009 when we won the
NCAA team championships. Gymnastics has shaped my life in a positive way and its a wonderful sport to do be involved in - even if, like me, you never become an Olympic hopeful.
I currently serve as the COO of The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation where I'm in charge of strategy, operations and overall profit & loss. I manage a team of business staffers and interns, do HR for 75+ people, lead board meetings, drive new projects & partnerships, and maintain a 5,000 sq ft building. It's a ton of work but a great opportunity to learn and contribute to the future of collegiate journalism.
In my spare time, I like do random projects like
NaNoWriMo, find tasty food on
Yelp or
cook it at home, read books on
media,
innovation and
management and hang out with friends.
